Getting there
How do I get to Socotra?
Socotra is reached by direct seasonal flights, most commonly from Abu Dhabi and Cairo. Once you share your travel dates, we'll advise the current routes and help you coordinate arrival with the start of your tour.
Do I need a visa?
Entry requirements vary by nationality and can change. We'll walk you through the current permit and visa process for your passport at the time of booking, and help arrange what's needed.
Are flights included in the price?
International flights to Socotra are not included. Everything on the island — transfers, transport, guiding, accommodation, meals and permits — is.
Season & weather
When is the best time to visit?
The prime season runs from October to May, when skies are clear and seas are calm. June to September brings strong monsoon winds, when many sites are harder to reach — so we generally don't run tours then.
What will the weather be like?
In season, expect warm sunny days and cooler evenings, especially in the highlands. Daytime temperatures are typically pleasant for hiking and swimming; nights at dune and beach camps can be fresh, so a light layer is worth packing.
Safety
Is Socotra safe for travellers?
Socotra is peaceful, welcoming and far removed from the mainland. You'll travel with experienced local guides at all times, and we manage logistics, permits and on-the-ground support throughout your stay.
Do I need travel insurance?
Yes — comprehensive travel insurance covering medical evacuation is required for every traveller. We'll ask for details before departure and are happy to recommend suitable providers.
Accommodation & food
What kind of accommodation can I expect?
A blend of simple guesthouses and fully equipped wilderness camps in spectacular settings. Tents, bedding and camp kitchens are all provided — comfortable, but wonderfully close to nature.
What about meals and dietary needs?
All meals and drinking water are included. Cooking is fresh and local. Vegetarian, vegan and most allergies are easily catered for — just tell us in advance and we'll plan accordingly.
The trip itself
How fit do I need to be?
Most journeys suit anyone in good general health — think gentle hikes and swimming rather than technical climbs. We tailor the pace to your group, and can make any itinerary more relaxed or more active.
What should I pack?
Sturdy walking shoes, swimwear, sun protection, layers for cool evenings, a small daypack and a refillable water bottle. We send a full packing list after booking. Camping gear and bedding are provided — you don't need to bring a tent.
Can you customise a private trip?
Absolutely — it's what we do best. Share your dates, interests and group size and we'll design a private itinerary around them, from diving-focused trips to family adventures and photography expeditions.
What's your cancellation policy?
Cancellations are handled case by case and we always aim to be fair. Full terms are shared at booking, with tiered refunds based on how far ahead you cancel. We strongly recommend insurance to cover unexpected changes.
